Pigmy Date Palm - 5 Gallons
Small, slow-growing evergreen palm to 6-10’ tall, forming a canopy of fronds to 5-7’ wide. Often planted in multiples, this popular landscape favorite is ideal for creating a tropical effect in smaller spaces where a larger palm might be overwhelming. A narrow, rough-textured tapering trunk is topped with gracefully arching, finely-divided medium-green fronds that create a soft-appearance. These fronds have sharp spines at their base, which should be considered when choosing a planting location. Showy creamy-yellow flower panicles appear from the base of the actively-growing fronds in summer, and are followed by small black fruit. Well-suited for courtyards, entryways, atriums, as a focal point in large planters, or anywhere a tropical accent is desired. Also makes a good container specimen and can be grown indoors if given ample light. Prefers regular watering in a well-drained soil, and a full to partial sun exposure.
